On Friday, September 13, the Peace Wapiti Academy Titans’ football game against the St. Joseph Celtics will be televised on Eastlink TV and Global TV as the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association’s and Football Alberta’s Game of the Week.
The Titans will head into the game as the underdogs, currently ranked 11th in Alberta’s Tier II group, against the Celtics, currently ranked second. Coach Kyle Kalmbach says they are hopeful to have a big game against the Celtics despite working through a few injuries. “Earlier this season we took on the current Tier II reigning champions and battled our way to a 23-23 tie. We have a very young team, but we have some big leaders on both sides of the ball who we hope can lead us on the field.” The Titans’ football team is made up of 53 players from Peace Wapiti Academy and Beaverlodge Regional High School, and half of the roster consists of rookies in their Grade 10 year.
The Game of the Week will take place at Hansen Lincoln Field in Grande Prairie, kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
The Titans’ season opener against the Grande Prairie Composite Phoenix is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Hansen Lincoln Field.
