Trustee Lori Grant, Ward 3 and Trustee Blaine Riding, Ward 2 have been elected as Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2022-2023 school year respectively.

PWPSD Board takes office during organizational meeting

Trustees for the 2021-2025 term elected this year’s Board Chair and Vice-Chair, established committee membership, and reviewed policies relating to trusteeship at the annual Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) organizational meeting of the Board on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Election of the Board Chair and Vice-Chair is an annual event at PWPSD. According to PWPSD policy, a Trustee may serve in the role of Board Chair for a maximum of five consecutive years. The role of Vice-Chair is limited to two consecutive years of service. 

Trustee Lori Grant, who is in her fifth year as Trustee of Ward 3, has been elected as Board Chair, and Trustee Blaine Riding, who joined the Board as the Trustee of Ward 2 last year, has been elected as Vice-Chair.

Moratorium on international travel extended

The Board approved to extend the moratorium on international travel, originally put in place in June 2020, to September 1, 2023. National travel for the 2022-2023 school year may by approved on a case-by-case basis.

Increase to mileage reimbursement approved

Administration's request to increase the mileage reimbursement amount for staff from 0.54 cents to 0.61 cents per kilometre has been approved by the Board. Mileage reimbursements are made when staff use personal vehicles for PWPSD business. The last update to the mileage reimbursement amount was approved in 2013.
